Process Description Describes the flow of feed through the unit as it is processed by unit equipment.
Mechanical Description Describes the purpose, location, capacity, design and specifications of all major equipment elements in the unit.
Process Chemistry

Describes the chemical reactions that occur during processing. Describes the purpose and characteristics of the catalysts and chemicals used in the process.

Process Variables Describes the process variables used to operate the unit. Identifies independent and dependent variables, describes their relationship and the strategies for efficient operation.
Startup Procedures Describes the step-by-step sequence required to perform successful normal startup. Includes pre-start procedures.
Normal Operation Describes the requirements to maintain stable operation of the unit to produce on-spec product. Identifies key operating parameters, their normal values, and consequences of deviation from their normal values.
Shutdown Procedures Describes the step-by-step sequence required to perform successful normal shutdown of the unit.
Special Operating Procedures Describes procedures that are performed on an infrequent basis or procedures that require specific attention, such as catalyst replacement.
Emergency Procedures Describes corrective actions and procedures for responding to unit upsets such as loss of feed, equipment failure, utilities failure, leaks, etc.
Safety Describes safety requirements and potential hazards, permits, tagout procedures and housekeeping items.
Appendices Contains Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Plot Plans and Vendor specification for major equipment items.
